Prenatal Massage
Cushioned, side-lying comfort and gentle pressure, adapted to you and your trimester.
60 min · $13590 min · $195120 min · $260
Who it’s for
The body doing the most. Low back, hips, legs, and shoulders in the second and third trimester, when the ordinary massage position stops being an option. Please check with your physician or midwife first, and let us know your trimester when you book so the room is set up before you arrive.
What to expect
You lie on your side, supported by cushions and bolsters that take the weight off the back and the belly, and you are re-supported whenever you want to turn over. Your therapist works at light-to-medium pressure through the low back, hips, glutes, shoulders, legs, and feet, staying away from the areas that prenatal work stays away from. Nothing about this session is a standard massage with a pillow added. The position, the pressure, and the sequence are all different.
Afterward
Relief in the low back and hips, and swollen feet that feel like feet again. Come back as often as it helps.
Our treatments are for relaxation and general wellbeing, and are not a substitute for medical care. If you are pregnant, recovering, or under a doctor’s care, please speak with your physician first and tell your therapist when you arrive.
Before you book
Care during pregnancy
Prenatal massage is its own treatment, not a regular massage with a pillow added. Here is exactly how we work, and what we will not do.
How we work
- Side-lying on cushions and bolsters, never face-down and never flat on your back.
- Light to medium pressure throughout.
- Most guests come in the second or third trimester. Tell us your trimester when you book so the room is ready before you arrive.
What we will not do
- No hot stones, and no heat treatments.
- No deep tissue or strong pressure on the legs.
- No assisted stretching or deep compression.
- No abdominal work.
Please speak with your physician or midwife before booking, and tell us if you have a high-risk pregnancy, high blood pressure, preeclampsia, swelling in one leg, or any bleeding. This page is not medical advice.
